Brigette Parsons has been a music educator for eleven years. She has been the head director of the Canyon Vista Middle School (CVMS) Band for three years after having previously served as the assistant director at Grisham Middle School (GMS) and CVMS in Austin, TX. Mrs. Parsons also served as adjunct instructor of French horn for three years at Southwestern University in Georgetown.
Mrs. Parsons is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Bachelors degree in Music and Human Learning and a Masters degree in Music Performance. Her bands have consistently received Sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest & Superior ratings at festivals around Texas. The CVMS Honors Band was also named a 2017 Commended Winner in the National Wind Band Honors Festival. In 2018, Mrs. Parsons and the CVMS Band were featured clinicians at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention. At CVMS, she has also been able to be a part of award winning full orchestra program, conducting at TMEA Honor Middle School Full Orchestra in 2011, and with GMS, the Midwest Clinic (Chicago 2013), and the Western International Band Clinic (Seattle 2015).
During the summer, Mrs. Parsons enjoys serving on the faculty at The UT Austin Longhorn Music Camp, either as a conductor or a brass specialist, and the RRISD Summer Youth Band Academy. Mrs. Parsons is a member of Tau Beta Sigma, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Texas Music Educators Association. She and her husband John, also a music educator, have two young sons, Arch & Joe.
Laura Stehn is currently in her eleventh year of music education in Texas, with the past six years being the assistant director at Canyon Vista. Prior to teaching at CVMS, she was the head director at Lago Vista ISD where she taught both the high school and middle school bands.
Mrs. Stehn is a graduate of the University of North Texas (Go Mean Green!) where she earned her Bachelors degree in Music Education. She was a member of the Green Brigade Marching Band, the UNT Trumpet Choir, the Concert Band, and a three-year member of the UNT Brass Band on cornet and flugelhorn. While at UNT, Mrs. Stehn was fortunate to study under a number of master teachers, including Dr. Brian Bowman, Prof. John Holt, Prof. Keith Johnson, Mr. Shaun Abraham, and Prof. Donna Emmanuel. She took master classes from Prof. John Haynie and studied conducting under Mr. Dennis Fisher.
Mrs. Stehn is well known for saying middle school is “where it’s at” and could not be happier teaching at our wonderful campus. She directs the Canyon Vista Symphonic Band, as well as the beginner French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba, and Saxophone classes. During the summer Mrs. Stehn also teaches at the Round Rock ISD Summer Youth Band Academy.
Mrs. Stehn enjoys serving as a church musician at St. Paul Lutheran, Thorndale, as well as the Round Rock and Austin communities. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Texas Music Educators Association. Mrs. Stehn lives in Round Rock with her husband Andrew, also a music educator, and their dogs “Money” and “Buckley”.
Dave Reyes is in his fourth year as the percussion instructor at Canyon Vista Middle School where he instructs the beginning percussion class, 7th and 8th grade percussion sectionals, and teaches private percussion lessons. While the percussion instructor at Grisham Middle School, his percussion ensembles performed with the Honors Band at the 2013 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic and the 2015 Western International Band Clinic.
Mr. Reyes holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Texas Christian University in Forth Worth, TX. He marched for the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps from Fort Mill, SC in 2001 and 2002 and served on the Percussion Staff for Carolina Crown for the 2004 season. He served on staff for the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque, IA in 2007. Mr. Reyes was also a performer for Tokyo Disneyland in Japan from 2006-2010.
